Stephen Lark, Communication Federal Credit Union’s Chief Marketing Officer, was presented with the 2022 Troy Higgins Political Activist of the Year Award by Oklahoma Credit Union Political Action Committee (OCUPAC). The award recognizes credit union professionals who have demonstrated a strong commitment to advocacy and have set an example for others in the industry.
Named in honor of the former CEO of Oklahoma Central Credit Union, the award is presented annually to an individual who embodies the values of a committed and passionate credit union advocate.
Stephen is a strong supporter of governmental affairs activities at both the state and national levels. He attends the Oklahoma Governmental Affairs Conference annually, as well as the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington DC. In addition, he generously contributes to both OCUPAC and Credit Union Legislative Action Committee (CULAC) each year, and leads advocacy efforts for Communication Federal Credit Union.
With 25 years of experience in the credit union industry, Stephen knows the current challenges facing the movement and encourages an open and respectful dialogue with elected officials. He has served as a mentor for young professionals, empowering them to engage in meetings with legislators, including at the fall Hike the Hill event in DC.
Stephen serves on Cornerstone’s Oklahoma Governmental Affairs Subcommittee and represents Oklahoma as the state CULAC Trustee. His dedication to political activism makes him most deserving of the 2022 Troy Higgins Political Activist of the Year Award.
